Asiad: India’s 44-year wait ends as Barwal bags marathon silver

Sawan Barwal won silver in the men’s marathon at the 2026 Asian Games, ending India’s 44-year wait for a medal in the event. He clocked a personal best of 2:11:37, finishing behind Japan’s Ichitaka Yamashita. Barwal’s silver is India’s fourth Asian Games marathon medal and follows his national-record performance earlier this year. Kartik Karkera finished 17th.
