South American icon plans global Messi petition for 2030 World Cup return

Former Bolivia captain Marco Antonio Etcheverry has urged Lionel Messi to continue playing for Argentina until the 2030 World Cup, even proposing a global petition to convince him. The MLS legend praised Messi’s 2026 World Cup performances and said football would not be the same without him, adding to growing calls for the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner to extend his international career.
